A UK Bank Holiday

If anyone had asked me six months ago, what the weather would be on April 9th 2012, I would have said I didn’t know, but if they’d have added that April 9th was a Bank Holiday, there wouldn’t have been any doubt in my mind, I wouldn’t have hesitated at all, ‘oh, it’ll rain’ ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t think I’m alone with this thought either, perhaps it’s just a British ‘thing’ but we do like to talk about the weather.

Anyway, opening the curtains this morning, I would have won my bet, peering past the raindrops on the window, I watched the rain bouncing of the vehicles in the close, beating out the words ‘bank holiday, bank holiday……..

After waving off my eldest daughter for her journey back home to the south coast, we decided to take Jasp & Sal for a walk to Morton Stanley Park.

Slightly different from the last time I took my camera for a walk there, we squelched round on the soggy grass.

A bank holiday and the park was almost empty, except for a hardy dog walker.

Looking towards the main car park and childrens’ play area, just one car in the car park, probably belonging to the dog walker, and not a single child anywhere.

This pond is a dogs’ paradise on a warm day. I still cringe though when I see dogs in it, remembering an incident many years ago, when Ben had jumped in, he came out with blood dripping from a badly gashed paw, which had to be stitched.

A couple more pics of T & the dogs enjoying (or NOT in Jaspers’ case) the rain ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

An island, surrounded by vast amounts of water, we have been rained on now on & off for the last week, but vast areas of the south east are in drought alert with hosepipe bans. Something’s wrong somewhere ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  1. Jasper looks very sulky Pippa there ๐Ÿ˜€ in his coat and with his front paw up. I’ll post some of my sunny weekend pics soon. Not been back long. Nice moody pix of yours though.

    • oh no, not sunny pics LOL ๐Ÿ˜‰ you’ll depress me even more ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Second thoughts, bring them on, the sun might cheer me up ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. aw, you can really see how Jasper feels about the weather, poor puppy! ๐Ÿ™‚
beautiful images – rain provides unique photo ops. really enjoyed those raindrops and the silhouettes.
today is a statutory holiday (i think that’s the equivalent of your bank holiday), too, although not one that everyone gets as a day off. but i do, and no complaints about that! it is sunny here, and there will be a family reunion this evening. looking forward to seeing everyone again.

    • Yes they are also called statutory days here too, I think bank holiday is probably a throw back to years ago. Again like your country not everyone gets them either, when I worked (retail) I was allowed a day off in lieu at some other time. As shops never want to close (another gripe of mine).
